Dear Parent/Carer,

Well done to Nursery and the juniors for their performances last week!

Thank you also to all the staff who have worked so hard to prepare all of our Christmas performances. Thank you also for being such a respectful audience. I know that it really helped the children to do their best. You can be very proud of them all!

The Nursery showed their imovie in assembly on Friday and it was lovely to see what they have been doing! Class 5/6BR are next after Christmas.

The Nursery Afternoon Christmas Party took place today and the Morning Party is tomorrow.

Staff wore Christmas jumpers or t-shirts today in aid of Tenovus, which is our chosen staff charity this year.  Every year we support a charity in lieu of sending cards in school and we also do a number of staff fund-raising activities.

Tonight a group of children from Y5/6 are singing at the Duffryn High School Music Concert. This will be a lovely opportunity for them and I know that they will enjoy seeing and listening to all the Duffryn High School bands and music groups. Parents and children who are coming on the bus with us are reminded to meet us at the back of the school, at the Nursery entrance by 6pm.

Minecraft and Sports Extra are the only clubs running this week.

Today was the final Taiko session for Year 3.

Christmas parties are on Wednesday. The Nursery have entertainment from 10.30-11.30 for all children and there is no afternoon nursery. The Foundation and Junior discos are in the morning and then the parties and party games take place in the afternoon.

Children can wear their own party clothes and there is no need to send any money in for this.

Please return your Inspection Parent Questionnaires by Wednesday. They are very important and the school will be judged by the number of questionnaires returned. Please do not hand them in at the office but give them to your child for their teacher. This means that their name can be entered into the family draw to win one of the four cinema gift cards.

On Thursday between 11.00am-12.00pm some Year 5/6 children will be carol singing in Asda, Pillgwenlly. We will also have our usual Talent Shows on Thursday and these are always great!

School Christmas dinner is on Thursday.

(Please pay all outstanding dinner money arrears to the office by Friday.)

Friday is the last day of term and it ends with the Early Years Christingle Service at Havelock Street Church at 10.00am.  Nursery, Reception and Upper Junior pupils will be taking part and we will be joined by the Rev. Paula Foley who is helping us with this. This service is always a lovely way to end the term and you are welcome to join us for it.

Friday is also Toy Day. Children can bring in games or toys from home that they and their friends can play with but they cannot bring in anything electronic such as ipads, remote control cars etc.

Attendance

Well done to Class 5/6P who won the attendance cup for November’s attendance with a total of  96.3%.

There is a slight improvement in the lateness figures, with  98.79 % of children in school on time.

Well done!
