Dear Parent/Carer,

Class Assembly

Well done to Class RH for a lovely Class Assembly on Friday! Thank you for joining us for that.

Sports Days

Sports Days on Wednesday and Thursday were great! Thank you very much for your support. Children were really good sports and the house captains and vice captains did an excellent job of organising their houses.

Thank you to Mrs Dickenson for her hard work organising the day beforehand. Thanks also to Matt Martin, from NewportLive, who spent the day with us and Phoebe Rees, Zahra Bashir and Ella Miles who helped out with the races. Children on the yards were organised by sports coaches from Sports Xtra.

Hot Weather

It’s forecast to be a hot week so please ensure that you apply sunscreen to your child before they leave the house in the morning.

Children are wearing summer uniform but if your child does not have school shorts, they can wear their kit shorts to keep them cool for this week if you’d like them to.

Summer Showcase

A group of children from the choir went to St David’s Hall today to take part in the Gwent Music Summer Showcase.

Tombola Tuesday

Tomorrow is Tombola Tuesday and children can wear their own clothes if they bring in an item for the Fayre. The Friends of St Woolos sent out a letter last Friday about this with extra information.

Family Science Workshop

The first of our Family Science Workshops takes place after school on Wednesday. A separate letter has been sent out about this and it should be really good.

Summer Fayre

The Friends of St Woolos Summer Fayre is on Friday 29th June at 3.45pm.

Please join the queue at the front of the school or at the back by the North Street entrance until the gates open.

We can’t let people in until all children have been collected and staff can go to the stalls. Any children not collected at the end of the day, will be taken to the Nursery so that they can be supervised together until they are collected.

Please send in homemade cakes on Friday morning. We had lots of samosas and pakoras etc for our Eid party and if we could have more on Friday that would be really helpful because our homemade foods are very popular and always sell out really quickly.

We are very short of help for organising items beforehand and also for running stalls on the day, so if you can help in any way, please telephone the office on 01633 265792 and advise Mrs Martin or Mrs Kidd.

Raffle tickets will be on sale every break time for 50p a strip.

All money raised wil be used to buy additional ICT equipment.

Attendance and Punctuality

Well done to Class RD who won the May Monthly Attendance Certificate with an attendance of 97.6%!

School Ground Protocol

All parents, carers and family members are expected to behave appropriately whilst on the school grounds or in proximity to pupils arriving at, or leaving, the school.

I will not accept any behaviour that could expose children, or other adults,  to distress or concern whilst on school grounds. I am supported in this by the Governing Body and by Newport City Council, and I will not hesitate to take the appropriate legal action should it be necessary.

Bonus Ball

There is a roll over this week.

Yours sincerely,

H L Vaughan
