Dear Parent/Carer,

We welcomed back Y6 on Friday who had stayed at Manor Park Adventure Centre for three days. They had a brilliant time! Everyone has been so proud of them for their teamwork, resilience, focus and general attitude and they were complimented for their behaviour by the Manor Park staff.😉 It took them a while to dry out when they got back though!

The same applied to staff who accompanied them; Mrs Agland, Mr Bowen, Mrs Davies and Mrs Dickenson. Thank you!

The Y6 pupils who didn’t go were equally great and they did lots of different activities. As well as making cake on Thursday, on Friday they made the most amazing vegetable pasta bake which they ate together with several staff. It was delicious!

Congratulations to last week’s Early Bird attendance prize winners who were Ariana Sohaib and Zara Harvey.😉 Well done also to everyone who had a magnet for full attendance for the half term! 😊

This Week

Tues   Rec-Y6 Parental Consultations – 3.45pm-7.30pm
Weds  3.45pm-6.00pm

Next week
Tues 5th March Nursery Consultations – 3.45-7.30pm
Weds 6th March  9.15am-3.30pm)

There will be a children’s film in the Nursery, if you’re unable to get childcare.

Because this is the Spring Consultation, Year 6 pupils will join their parents for the meeting, in order to help them prepare for their move to high school.

Afshan Morgan, a Psychological Health Practitioner (PHP), attached to Newport schools, will be joining us on both nights this week and will be giving out a brief, anonymous survey, asking you about courses or information that you might find helpful. We will use this information to help organize what you have identified.

Courses or individual meetings can be arranged in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi, Bengali and Arabic. Nursery parents who won’t be attending this week will also be given a survey to complete.

(Following on from your responses in the Autumn Parent Survey and discussion with staff, we have decided to continue the system of having tables in the hall. All appointments are ten minutes but should you need to have a longer confidential discussion for any reason, this can be arranged separately.)

On Friday it’s our annual Eisteddfod, which is a Welsh cultural competition. Children have been taking part in competitions to get points for their houses, which are all named after local rivers.

Children can wear house colours (shown below), club uniforms or national costume (either Welsh or other countries).

Usk – Yellow
Wye – Red
Ebbw – Green
Severn – Blue

Autumn Parent Survey

Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey in our last consultations.

We really appreciated your comments and suggestions. We were also reassured by the very positive feedback.

The survey was done via Google Forms and provides results in diagrams. We’re unable to transfer these diagrams to Schoop unfortunately and I’m not able to share the online survey because of GDPR information embedded in it.

Therefore, the information is summarised in tables below.

However, if any parent would like to look at the diagram survey format, then please contact me. We had a total of 51 responses.

Pantry

The pantry will run on Wednesday as usual. This is a crisis service and if you find that you need to use it every week, we can provide you with details about foodbanks that can provide you with more and help you access other support.

Please be reassured that we do not pass on any information to any other agencies, about who uses our Pantry. That is between you and the school and is kept confidential.

World Book Day

This is taking place next week, on Thursday 7th March, not this week as mistakenly said on the Diary Dates sheet. Apologies!

A new one has been sent out last week. Please ask if you would like a paper copy.

Kind regards,
HL Vaughan Headteacher
