Dear All,

I hope that everyone had a great half term holiday, and that you enjoyed your firework displays safely.

Today the children enjoyed the Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk. This is funded by “The Friends of St Woolos”, a small group of parents who help us to raise money for school through Fayres and events. We are always looking for more helpers, especially as our Christmas Fayre is fast approaching.

There will be a Friends of St Woolos Meeting on Friday at 2.45pm in school for anyone who would like to find out more about helping at the Christmas Fayre.

The deadline for nominations for Parent Governor expires at 5.00pm today. I hope that you have submitted a nomination form if you would like to be on the Governing Body of the school. Depending on the response, election forms will come out soon. However, if there is only one nomination, then that person will become our fourth Parent Governor. Our current Parent Governors are Caroline Bradfield, Anna Khan and Alex Guest.

I would also like to thank Mrs Bashir, for her many years of service as a Parent Governor.

On Wednesday, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils will be taking part in a Road Safety Trust Project in small groups.

On Thursday, the sixth Families Connect meeting will take place from 9.00 – 11.00am. These meetings are going well and the parents attending are earning Time Credits which they can exchange for a wide range of activities across the country.

We held an event in school on 26th October to tell parents about Time Credits and how you can earn them by volunteering. Many thanks to the parents who attended that meeting. I would like to offer another opportunity for you to find out about them, if you are interested, so please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if you would like to attend a meeting. Time Credits are only available to parents, grandparents or guardians of pupils in our school.

On Friday 10th November, Class 5/6P will be leading our Remembrance Assembly at 10.30am. You are invited to attend to remember those who have fallen in all wars, since the First World War. Please be prompt so that we can conduct the silence at 11.00am.

Next Friday, 17th November, is Children in Need Day, and our School Council have decided to hold a “Bring your bear” Day. They have considered that older children may not want to bring a bear, so children can also wear casual clothes or dress as their hero (sports person/singer/dancer/author/actor) but outfits should be appropriate for school. We are asking for a donation of a least 50p. School Council are also going to make a presentation in an Assembly to explain to others how the Children in Need money is spent.

Bonus Ball – There is another roll over this week.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Couch

Acting Headteacher
