Dear Parent/Carer,
Well, we have just two weeks of term left until we break up for Christmas. It has been a very busy start to December and the fortnight ahead will be busier still!
Christmas Fayre and Movie Night
Many thanks to you all for the fantastic support you showed for our Christmas Fayre and Movie Night. We made a combined profit of over £2000! This is phenomenal! Every penny we raise goes to the children. We have been able to subsidise our Pantomime visit and provide drinks and crisps while at the pantomime. The rest of the money is being kept safe and staff and children will decide how that will be best spent.
Elf Day
We launched our Christmas celebrations with a day of creativity and fun last Monday as we all dressed in
suitable Elf attire and made a start on our Christmas cards, calendars and decorations. The children (and
staff) had a great day and produced some beautiful and creative pieces.
Pantomime
Last Thursday’s Pantomime visit was a huge success! The afternoon was organised by Mrs Davies brilliantly and with the help of our PCSOs and school volunteers, we safely walked the entire school to and from the Riverfront Theatre. The children loved the Pantomime and were beautifully behaved. We were so proud to take them. We have already booked for next year’s show which is Rapunzel. Hopefully, with more fundraising in 2025 we will be able to charge a heavily discounted price again.
Christmas
As you can see, Christmas is playing a large role in our learning experiences at St Woolos. When we plan our Curriculum and Learning and teaching opportunities in school, there are some seasonal and authentic themes that capture our children’s excitement, imagination and experiences out of school brilliantly. This makes for excellent learning opportunities. Any teaching that happens in school is done so thoughtfully and inline with the Curriculum for Wales and mandatory guidelines surrounding this. We pride ourselves on our Inclusivity and celebrate the diversity in our St Woolos family, expecting all children to listen to, respect, celebrate and learn about all cultures, religious beliefs and protected characteristics. I do understand that sometimes there might be elements of discomfort with this and whenever this occurs I welcome a chance to talk and work through things. We cannot exclude children from any of the learning that is happening but we can talk, learn to understand each other and move forward. With this in mind I’d like to invite any parents who have any questions into school to meet with me and staff members from each phase to talk through the learning for the next couple of weeks. We will do this on Wednesday morning after drop off . Please come to the main entrance for 9am.
In the meantime, take care in this windy weather! I look forward to seeing you all throughout the week.
Very kind regards,
Miss T Bowden Interim Headteacher
