Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you so much for your tremendous support with our Christmas Fayre on Friday!

We were absolutely bowled over by how many families joined us and also by your generosity. The atmosphere was really lovely and there were lots of smiling faces. 😊

Father Christmas was very busy and he’s promised to especially remember the children he saw in the evening.

So far we’ve raised over £1,200 and that’s without even including the Smarties money which is coming in well.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated tombola items, raffle prizes or made amazing craft items, cakes and samosas.😊Thank you also to parents, staff, retired staff and family members who worked so hard to make the event such a success!

Next week, we’ll have a final gift sale of any items unsold from the Fayre and I’ll let you know more on Monday.

This week, classes are busy preparing for their Christmas performances over the next few weeks.

Ticket letters were sent out today. We are limiting the tickets to two per child initially, to give everyone a fair chance of attending. However, you will be able to request additional tickets which we may be able to share out, once we know the numbers of seats left.

If you want to bring a child of Nursery age, you will need to order a ticket for their seat.
Please remember that no babies or toddlers will be admitted. This will help to ensure that your child can speak and perform without being disturbed and I’d like to thank you for supporting this in the past.

Thank you in advance for your help with costume requests.

It’s been two years since we’ve been able to hold concerts in school for parents to attend so it will be great to have everyone join us again.

Tomorrow, Jayne Bryant, the Senedd Member for Newport West, will be joining us for our Celebration Assembly and it will be lovely for her to join us, hear our children sing, and also give out certificates. Our Friday assembly is always so lovely.

Allergies
We have a few children and staff who have severe allergies which could cause medical complications. Please remember my earlier request to not send any items in containing nuts, or nut spread such as Nutella, because they could trigger an anaphylactic shock if there is close contact.

Concert Dates

  • Weds 7th 10.00am Y1/2 Concert
  • Fri 9th 10.00am Reception Concert
  • Tues 13th 10.00am Y3/4 Concert
  • Fri 16th 10.00am Y5/6 Concert

Please be seated ten minutes before the start of the performance.

Clubs
We currently have a high number of staff with Covid and, as a precaution, have stopped lunchtime mixed age clubs at present.

Apologies for the confusion about an after-school club timings tonight.

Football Club were very busy tonight and Mr Godsall told me that the children’s skills were improving weekly.

We’re looking for future Welsh team players now. We will be arranging an after-school friendly match as soon as we can in the new year.

Also, good news – Miss Wall will be starting an after school Netball Club after Christmas for children in Year 3 and above.

Parent Governor
Just in case you missed the Schoop last week, our new Parent Governor is Mrs Mujahid. Thank you for your great response to the ballot.

Congratulations to Mrs Mujahid and very grateful thanks to Mr Burke for his willingness to help the school.

Very kind regards,
H L Vaughan
