Dear Parent,

Well done to The Eco Team for their Fairtrade Pop-up café on Thursday! Thank you for joining us.

Well done to everyone who won a fridge magnet for full attendance during the last half term!

Congratulations to Varaidzo Msipa and Asmaa Hassan who won our Early Bird draw and each receive a £5.00 WH Smiths giftcard!

Our Book Week is this week. Please take the time to chat to your child about books that you had read to you when you were a child or books that you remember reading and enjoying. Any conversation about books is helpful.

The three week Swimming Course for Year 5 pupils begins today. Children are starting their lesson at 9.00am and need to be in school by 8.20am every morning ready for registration and to get on the coach.

Parents who attended one of the Family Learning courses in Literacy or Numeracy for children from Reception upwards are invited to join us in our assembly tomorrow morning at 9.15am to receive their certificates. Your child will also receive a certificate for working with you. We will be joined by Helen Davies and Ann Green from the Family Learning Service and I hope you can join us for this special celebration.

We have been unable to confirm any more courses for this term at present because the Family Learning Service has had its funding cut but I am trying very hard to establish alternative courses and will let you know more as soon as I can.

On Friday morning, Kelly-Ann Rees from Newport Women’s Aid will be joining Year 6 pupils for the first of a three week programme called ‘Challenging Attitudes’. This course, which runs in many schools, has run here for several years now and children always find it interesting.

Attendance and Punctuality

Thank you for helping with punctuality this morning.

There was a definite improvement!

A reminder about the new door times that you were informed about last term.

8.45am- Doors open early

8.50am- School starts and the side door is shut.

8.55am- The register is taken. Children arriving after 8.55am are marked present, but late.

9.20am- Registers close. (We have a legal window of 30 minutes from the official start time)

Children arriving after 9.20am are marked absent in the register. These are Welsh Government rules.

The doors will close at 8.50am. Children are allowed time to get to their class before the register is called at 8.55am.

Bonus Ball

There is a rollover this week.

Yours sincerely,
