Dear Parent,

Well done to Class 3/4G on their class assembly last week! They also showed their imovie which was lovely. Class RS are showing theirs on Friday.

Good luck to Miss Goodwin who also left on Friday to begin her maternity leave! In her absence, the class will be taken by Miss Watkins and I am sure that she will settle in quickly.

The Women’s Aid project with Year 6 has been postponed until April, when the Year 5 pupils are swimming.

Clubs are running as usual this week and, while Miss Goodwin is away, I will run Drama Club for the rest of this term. However, depending on the timings of meetings, I may have to stop it at Easter. I will let you know well in advance though.

The lunchtime Discovery Club should be starting again on Tuesday. It has been delayed because both Mrs Kemp and Mrs Peterson who run it have been unwell.

Tomorrow, Mrs Annette Wells, from Newport Museum, will be visiting to talk about the Chartist project that Class 5/6P are working on with the Museum.

The Y2/3 Parent Numeracy Workshops will start on Thursday from 9.00-11.00 am and they will be taken by Mrs Carrie John from NCC’s Family Learning service. During these sessions your child will have the chance to join you for a numeracy activity. The sessions will run until Thursday 12th March but there is the possibility of extending them until the 19th March if there is sufficient demand. Refreshments will be provided and I hope that you will be able to join us.

Mrs Harwood, from the Cwtsh Library Project (Handpost Library) was unable to visit us last week but will be joining the Library group on Thursday lunchtime Friday is UNICEF’s ’Day for Change’ which means that for minimum donation of 50p, children may wear their own choice of clothes. (A family donation of 50p is also acceptable if necessary.) Please remember that the rule for sensible, safe footwear still applies though (no mules or high heels).
Class RD also have their class assembly this week on Friday at 9.15am. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us.

Children in Miss Spray’s class are visiting the Library on Friday morning. Last week‘s visit with Mrs Dickenson’s class went really well so I’m sure that they will also have a lovely time.

School Dinners

The new menu is on our website if you need to check it at any time (www.stwoolosprimary.org). I have also asked for an allergen copy which may be helpful for you and I will let you know when that is available.

Daffodil Day

This is just a reminder that the Foundation Phase Daffodil Day (Reception classes and Year 1/2 classes) takes place on Wednesday 11th February when children wear yellow clothes and sell daffodils and biscuits at the end of the school day to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Eco Tip

Borrow from friends. If you only need something temporarily, ask a friend or neighbour if they would loan it to you. Return the favour when you can.

Bonus Ball

There is another rollover this week!

Yours sincerely,
