Dear All,

Thank you very much for supporting Jeans for Genes last week! We raised a total of £132.69 which helps research into genetic illnesses.

Thank you also for returning the green Contact details cards. Tierna Hinds (Nursery), Ibrahim Hammoud (Infants) and Abeeha Taqvi (Juniors) won a £5.00 gift card in the draw that we held on Friday morning.

ADA Recycling are joining us on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be running workshops in junior classes. They will also be meeting the new Eco Team on Wednesday afternoon.

Duffryn High School are holding an Open Evening on Wednesday from 6.00-8.00pm for

Y5 and 6 pupils and parents. All are welcome. Mr Jon Wilson, the headteacher of Duffryn High, will also be visiting our school on Tuesday 13th October at 3.45 to talk to parents and pupils about the plans for the new school which, from September 2016, will become known as John Frost High School. He will talk about what the new school will look like and also about the changes it will mean for the new Year 7 pupils.

On Thursday afternoon at 2.30pm, Class 5/6P are running their annual Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. Refreshments will be available and there is no charge, although they will be running a raffle to be drawn in the afternoon and homemade cakes will be on sale. I hope that you will be able to join us for this event which will be held on the top floor.

The School and Nursery will be closed on Friday for an INSET day.

Smoking

I have been contacted by several parents concerned about adults smoking just outside the school gates. Please remember my original request not to smoke at the front or back gates in areas where children, babies and adults are passing by.

I hope that you will co-operate with this request and understand the reason for it.

Hometime

If you are waiting at the main entrance by the steps at hometime, please help us by waiting outside the gates. This is because there is not enough room for children to come down the steps and to walk either to the front or the side if parents are waiting in the space. Thank you for helping with this.

Bonus Ball

There is another rollover this week!

Thank you if you have supported this in the past.

We have a few spare numbers available for a weekly contribution of £1.00 so if you are interested, please see Mrs Kidd in the office.

All money raised is split equally so that half is given in a weekly prize, and half goes in to school funds. If any parent would be interested in helping to collect this Bonus Ball money on the yard either at the beginning or end of the day, please let Mrs Kidd or Mrs Martin know.

Yours faithfully,

H Vaughan

Headteacher
