Dear All,

Well done to the Netball team who won their return match against Alway Primary School 7-0! The Player of the Match was Robbie Stacey!

Congratulations to our half termly Early Bird winners- Mohamed Nut and Maryam Hummayun! They each win a £5.00 WH Smith’s gift card.

The Food and Hygiene Theatre from the Food Standards Agency visited us this morning and gave a performance for the school and then visited classes. They told the children really helpful information about food safety and were good fun to watch.

Milittlepad ran the first of Scratch coding workshops this afternoon with class 4/5B this week and these will continue for another four weeks.

On Tuesday morning, a polar explorer is visiting in the morning to continue the Science project work with Classes 4/5B, 5/6W and 5/6P.

Roast dinner is being served on Tuesday and a special St David’s Day meal of burger, salad or potato wedges and jelly or fruit will be served on Wednesday.

We will be celebrating our Eisteddfod on Wednesday to mark March the 1st which is St David’s Day. Children may wear either Welsh national costume, club uniform eg Brownies, TaeKwanDo, Judo, their own other national costume or house colours which are:

Wye- Red

Ebbw – Green

Severn – Blue

Usk – Yellow

Children have brought in lovely Welsh Lovespoons and each entry wins five points for their house. We have extended the closing date until tomorrow (Tuesday 28th February)

There is no GEMS Reading Café this week.

It is World Book Day on Thursday and children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character and/or bring their favourite book (with their name written inside). Miss Goodwin is also sending home a colouring competition to be returned for a draw on Thursday morning.

Eco Tip

Please continue to help us recycle batteries by sending in any old batteries for the battery competition.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers

Please support us by collecting Sainsbury’s vouchers whenever you can or by asking friends, family or colleagues. These are very helpful for us to get play items for the yards and also sports equipment.

Fundraising

Thank you for supporting our Valentine Cake and Biscuit Sale and Casual Day for school funds. We raised a total of £ 121.95 in the Valentine Sale and £143.00 for Casual Day!

Parental Consultations

These take place on Tuesday 7th March and Wednesday 8th March

(or Tuesday 7th March and Thursday 9th March for Class 5/6P ONLY  (Mrs Parry). Please complete the attached forms as soon as possible indicating your preference slot (one of three) for your ten minute appointment. Please note that spaces will be allocated as soon as forms are returned and there is no guarantee that you will have your chosen space. We will try to help you with this as much as we can though.

All forms must be returned and all parents are expected to attend these meetings because they are a very important part of your child’s education.  Appointments will be given to every parent, including those who have not returned a form by Friday of this week.

To help you with attending, an after-school DVD will be running in the Nursery for your child, if you have no-one to babysit.  Please remember though, that you must collect your child from school and not leave them here until your appointment later in the evening. This is because it is not possible to fit a lot of children in the Nursery at any one time. Thank you for your co-operation with this.

All appointment times will be sent out by Friday.

During these Consultations, Mrs Couch will be available to answer any questions you may have about the National Tests, which start in May.

Bonus Ball

Congratulations to our winner- Mrs Martin!

Yours faithfully,

H Vaughan
