Dear Parent/Carer,

This letter will also be sent out on paper tomorrow, so that all parents can access it this week. We have found out that some parents haven’t been getting Schoop messages or our weekly newsletter so please check your settings and, if necessary, sign up for your child’s new class, if you have been missing out this this term. Please ask at the office if you need any help. We will also attach it to a paper copy of the Diary Dates sheet, for convenience for you.

It was lovely to have parents join us for our Macmillan Coffee afternoon in the Cadog Hall on Friday. Thank you for supporting us! 😊

When I know the final total raised for this, and for Jeans for Genes, I’ll let you know.

Thank you to Mrs Graham for organising it, and for help from Mrs Webber, Mrs Morton and a group of pupils who helped.

Well done also to our Welsh singing group who sang for parents at the coffee afternoon and then performed so brilliantly at The Riverfront on Saturday when they were taking part in a Welsh ‘Gwyl Newydd’ (New Children’s Festival). We were so proud of them, and also very proud of the fact that we were the only English medium school taking part. Thank you to Ms Bowden who helped them to be so great. Thank you also to parents who came to support everyone. 😊

This Week
Yesterday’s Planetarium visit to school for Year 3/4 classes was postponed because the presenter was ill. However, this lovely activity will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Tomorrow, Mrs Couch is running the third in her series of Family Learning workshops, which is Y5/6 ‘Help your Child with Number’. It runs from 9.00-10.30am. This course has been requested so we hope that it will meet your needs. Your child will come to join you for the last part of it and there are free refreshments.

Later tomorrow afternoon, the Pantry, in the Family Room is open from 3.15pm.

From next week, this will change to a Wednesday.

This Pantry provides a short term crisis support to all of our families who may need some extra help with food but is not a full food bank. It is funded until March 2024 via a grant from the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations and helped by members of Newport Cathedral. Our aim is to support you when you may be struggling and to help you to access longer term food bank support if your difficulties aren’t short term. Please ask us if you need any help.

Children have been voting for positions of responsibility over the past week and the final presentations will be on Friday, in our Celebration Assembly. We have been so very proud of the speeches that children have made, the descriptions of the values that they believe in and also their desire to help and to be agents for change.

If your child has done something special during the week and has an award etc, that they would like to bring in on a Friday, they’re always welcome to.

On Friday, we also have Colorfoto in to do individual photos. If you’d like a photo with a baby or toddler (younger than Nursery) please come to school for 8.30am to be given a ticket for the queue.

Children will have photos taken on their own and with siblings but, as always, there is no obligation to buy anything.

We will do a Contact Details Card draw on Friday with a prize of a £5.00 gift token going to someone in the Nursery, Lower School (R-Y2) and Upper School (Y3-6). A few cards are still outstanding, so please send in any remaining by Friday morning at the latest.
