Dear Parent/Carer,
Thank you for supporting Children in Need last week! We raised £222.40! 😊
This event was the final part of our Anti-Bullying Week (Kindness Week) and children did lots of lovely activities and thought a lot about how their behaviour can make a difference to others, especially if they are kind and smile at one another.
Every class now has their Kindness Elf as a reminder about being kind, which is also one of our core values.
At the moment, a kindness tree display is being put together in the middle hall and every child in the school has make a kindness promise or suggestion, on a cut-out hand shape, which will be hung with all the others.
Dragon Rugby took place this morning. These sessions promote not only physical skills and activity but also attributes such as team work, resilience and fair play.
This week we are preparing for our Christmas Fundraising Day on Friday.
We had hoped to send home the Smarties tubes today but we think there’s a massive shortage of the small hexagonal packs! We managed to get the final ones after school so they will come home with each child tomorrow.
Children can eat the Smarties and then if you, your family and friends are able to fill the tube with coins (of any denomination), please send the completed tube back to school next Monday. Last year this was amazing fundraiser for us and we really appreciated your help. Any contribution, however small, is appreciated.
Tomorrow is our Tombola Tuesday. Children can wear casual clothes, in return for bringing in items such as toiletries, sweets or chocolate, tinned or packet foods or a raffle prize that we can use on Friday. (Thank you if you have already sent in a raffle prize!) As usual, staff are contributing a range of Christmas foodstuffs to create a Family Christmas Hamper and a Chocolate Hamper.
Raffle tickets will be on sale from tomorrow onwards and the draw will be on Friday. They are on sale at 50p each in the hall at breaktime. As previously, we will screen the draw via Teams across the whole school on Friday afternoon and children will be able to collect their prize from the hall.
Our Christmas Fundraising Day will take place on Friday. Each class is raising money by doing lots of different things and some of these are shown below. Your child’s class teacher will Schoop more details for you tomorrow morning. Please only send in what you can afford for class games eg Guess the Sweets in the Jar. The aim is for children to have fun as much as they can on the day and staff will ensure that all children will be able to have a lovely day.

Family Learning
I apologise about the delay in receiving information on the third SWOPS session- Numbers to 20. A letter for pack requests will home with Year 2 and Year 3 children tomorrow and the film will be uploaded on Thursday once you have had the activity packs to use at home.
PE Kit
At the moment, current Covid restrictions mean that we have to ask children to wear their PE kit to school when they have PE. However, we have noticed that instead of the normal PE kit of white round neck Tshirt and black jogging bottoms or leggings, some older children are wearing branded sportswear that looks like their casual clothes and isn’t appropriate for school.
Please ensure that on PE day, your child wears their white PE t-shirt with their sweatshirt or cardigan and black joggers or leggings. Please also help your child to be smart in their uniform by ensuring that they only wear trainers on PE days.
By doing this, you will not only help your child to be smart but will stop the pressure on yourselves to pay for branded items.
Our children look really smart when they wear their uniform, they are a credit to you and it helps bind them together in the school community.
Eco Tip
Remember to run taps off after use and not leave them running.
Attendance
Our attendance target for the year is 93%.
Most attendance in the school is great but please be aware that we are introducing
some additional processes to ensure that for families where children’s attendance is poor, we will work
collaboratively with other agencies to improve this as quickly as possible.
Nuts and Nut Free Status
We are aware that several children and adults in our school have a nut allergy. Whilst we are unable to
confirm that we are a totally nut- free environment (including nut dust particles), to help make things as
safe as possible for everyone, please don’t send your child in to school with an nuts or items containing
nuts. We have had this system for many years but there may be some new parents who are not aware of
this. Thank you for helping us.
School Christmas Performances
Like all schools across Wales, we have to follow extra Covid rules to limit the spread in
the wider community. (This is the same for all public sector organisations such as
hospitals, doctors, dentists, Local Government and the Civil Service.)
We are unable to have combined concerts in school with an audience but we still intend to give the
children the best performing experience they can have.
Today classes started practising for their class performances and it’s been lovely to hear singing coming
from some of the classrooms. Singing together as a school has been one of the big things that we have
really missed over the past year and a half.
Concerts in school will take place on the date below. All year group and class bubbles will be maintained.
Friday 2nd December – Reception
Monday 6th – Years 1 and 2
Wednesday 8th – Years 3 and 4
Tuesday 14th – Years 5 and 6
These dates are on the Diary Dates sheet and spare copies are available from the office if you need one.
As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding at the moment.
Yours sincerely,
H Vaughan
