Dear Parent/Guardian,
Well done to Class 3/4G for a great class assembly about Holland on Friday!
Flouride varnishing took place today for children in Years 1 and 2.
Class 4/5B’s Skype interview with Paul Wesselingh didn’t work last week because of problems with our firewall but it has been rearranged for Tuesday. Pupils in Class 4/5B will also have the chance to have some tickets for this year’s Welsh Senior Open Championship in June at the Celtic Manor.
On Tuesday afternoon, at 2.45pm, we will be holding a Friends of St Woolos meeting. This is open to any parent or grandparent who would like to help with preparing for our Summer Fayre which is on Friday 24th June.
On Thursday, pupils in Classes 3/4G and 3/4M are visiting the Winding House at Caerphilly to find out more about life in the 1940s.
Drumming with Reception pupils continues on Thursday and it is taken by Jason Robinson from Upbeat Music and Arts.
Class 4/5B are visiting the Winding House on Friday.
Class 1/2DJ have their Class Assembly on Friday at 9.15am. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us.
The Ukekele sessions for Year 5 pupils taken by Glyn Watkins from Upbeat Music and Arts have changed to a Friday morning. They started well last week.
A Parent Focus Group will take place on Friday at 2.30pm. Joining us for this meeting is Mrs Hala Edwards, a language specialist who works in school part-time. She plans to set up a school parent and child Book Cafe in June and would like to chat to you and ask your opinion on a few things.
One of the requests made at a previous meeting was to have an information session about the British education system and I will also be asking for some suggestions on the timing for that.
Race Across America (RAAM)
Alix Popham, the rugby player, gave us a really interesting talk about the Race Across America (RAAM) which he is taking part in soon. He is raising funds for Velindre Hospital, in Cardiff, which provides specialist cancer care and he has given us a rugby ball signed by the Welsh team to raffle. Tickets will be on sale every break time and they start at 10p each or 50p a strip. The draw will take place on Monday 13th June. Alix has promised to return after the race and show us photographs of it and talk about it.
ABC Electrification
Children’s poster competition entries were collected on Friday and will be judged by staff from ABC Electrification. Winning designs will be used to decorate the hoardings near the train station and Bridge Street. Winners from each class will be invited for a site visit later in the term and the overall winner will be presented with a family cinema ticket by ABC Electrification.
