Dear Parent/Guardian,

Huge apologies to Class 5/6P for not saying it was them who did such a lovely Easter Assembly! (Apologies also to Class 5/6W.)

Well done to Class 1/2MS for a really informative Assembly about their work in class so far!

Y1/2 classes have started the week with a Gymnastics session from Sharon Mason from PlayLearnPlay, who previously worked with Y3/4 classes. They will have a further three sessions and I know that they will be really good.

Thank you to all parents and grandparents who helped to make last week’s Foundation Phase Reading Extravaganza Part 2, so great!

Thank you also for your really great feedback! We received some special funding to run this project and buy resources so we will report back on the fact that it was so successful. Thanks you also to parents who helped us

The National Tests for all pupils in Year 2 and above start on Wednesday morning.

The first one is Numeracy Reasoning.

On Wednesday, drumming for Reception classes only will take place.

Singing group rehearsals for the Operasonic performance also continue.

There is no school on Thursday 4th May because the Council Elections are taking place and the school is a Polling Station. The staff will use this day for an INSET (In-Service Education and Training) looking at, amongst other things, the early development of spoken language.

The Numeracy Procedural Test takes place on Friday morning.

On Friday lunchtime, Chartwells are doing a special Fish and Chip meal in a tray and, if it is popular, will do this on the last Friday of every term.

Dates

The Class Topic letters and Summer Diary Dates sheet accompany this newsletter. There may be additional dates added during the term because, if practical, we try to take opportunities for special extra activities when they arise.

We will have an INSET day on Thursday 8th June, which has been confirmed as a General Election day.

Thank You!

As you are aware, like most schools, we are having to do more fund-raising to provide children with as many experiences as possible. Generally, the cost of all actvities is kept as low as possible and they are always subsidized by money raised through events such as the Summer Fayre, Casual Days etc.

Occasionally, there is a trip planned that is more expensive but which we believe will be a lovely opportunity for children and this is currently the situation with the trip planned for Classes 4/5B, 5/6P and 5/6W later in the term to Folly Farm, which supports their Science and History work. The children and staff in the classes are doing as much fund-raising as possible to bring the overall cost down and the Monday Film Club is just one example of this.

However, I would especially like to thank the Y5/6 grandparents who have made a special donation to this fund-raising, not for their grand-child, but for the benefit of everyone. It is very much appreciated!

Dinner Money

Please ensure that you credit your child’s Parentpay account (or credit through Paypoint barcodes) BEFORE you order school meals. There are currently twenty-eight accounts overdrawn and this is far too many outstanding amounts. Chartwells will be unable to provide meals if parents do not credit their account with sufficient funds.

Bonus Ball

There is another rollover this week!

We currently have only ten members of the Bonus Ball Competition, so if you would like to join in, please contact the office. Parents and staff pay £1.00 per week and the money collected is split, with half going to the holder of the Bonus Ball number for that week, and half going to school funds. The Rollover prize is added to the next week’s prize.

Yours sincerely,

H Vaughan
