Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope that you’ve had a lovely Easter break!
Well done to Class 5/6M for a very thoughtful and reflective Easter Assembly last term.
This will be a quiet week as we begin preparations for next week’s National Tests, which commence on Wednesday 7th May and run until Tuesday 14th May. It is very important that the children do not attend any appointments during this period and, of course, no holiday can be authorized.
The Upper Junior visit to the Roman Amphitheatre and Baths at Caerleon due to take place in the last week of last term was cancelled at short notice unfortunately and we are in the process of arranging an alternative date.
Well done to the Foundation Phase winner of our Early Bird Half Termly Attendance Draw, Akashdeep Singh, who wins a £5.00 gift card ☺ The Key Stage Two draw will take place tomorrow in assembly.
Staffing
Today we welcome Mrs Morgan who has come to take over Class 3/4B in Miss Bishop’s absence. She joins us from Glan Usk Primary School. I know that she will settle in very well and that the children will make her welcome.
I’d also like to thank Mr Moylan who stepped in to cover Miss Bishop’s class in the interim period. Mrs Morgan will be remaining with us until Miss Bishop’s return.
Welcome also to Mrs Cogdell, who joins us as a kitchen assistant alongside Mrs Rogers, our cook.
Parent Governor
Please return your completed ballot forms by Tuesday 7th May at 12.00pm. All votes will be counted in the presence of the candidates and our Chair of Governors, Dr Paul Glover.
Future Dates
- Mon 6th May – May Bank Holiday – School Closed
- Tues 7th May – Term Diary Dates and Topic Letters given out
We have been notified that we will need to be a Polling Station on Thursday May 23rd if the European Parliamentary Elections go ahead. I’ll let you know about this as soon as I am able to.
Ramadan
Ramadan, the Muslim period of fasting, prayer and reflection on the needs of those less fortunate than others, begins next week.
If your child is of an age when you may want them to do a part-fast (usually Y6), please ask for a Ramadan information letter.
Future Fundraising Events
Thank you for responding to my last request for suggestions. If you might be able to help for an hour or so at an after school fundraising event at some point (which your child might be attending, such as a film show), or would like to organize one, please complete the form overleaf and return it with your child for the office.
This is the last printed newsletter you will receive. The newsletter will be displayed on all the school entrances, on the school website stwoolosprimary.org or on SCHOOP – please sign up if you haven’t already done so. You can also request one from the school office.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
H Vaughan
