Last Week
Although the Nursery couldn’t go to Belle Vue Park on Thursday, both sessions had a lovely time in the outdoors, drinking hot chocolate, singing songs and having fun. They were also joined by Father Christmas.
Similarly, The Reception classes did a really lovely singing performance at Belle Vue Park on Friday.
This is such a lovely time of the year in school and also although we can’t do everything the way we normally do, all staff are doing their best to give the children the best experiences they can.
It’s been so nice to hear all the singing around the school and staff have been inventive in synchronising different class bubbles so that performance can be made up of separate parts.
This Week
This afternoon, the Year 1 and 2 classes performed their Christmas Story musical one class after another and the children were tremendous and really enjoyed themselves! For the very first time, we used the Cadog Hall (annexe) for a concert and we’ve discovered that the acoustics there are great. This was filmed, like the singing last week, and will be set out on Seesaw.
Well done to all these classes and to staff who worked with them. Thank you also for singing along with your child’s songs and for helping them with their lines.
Dragon Rugby took place today with Year 5 and 6 pupils.
On Wednesday, Year 3 and 4 classes will be performing their concert items in the Cadog Hall also. They have been practising hard and I know that they will do really well.
Also on Wednesday, it’s our school Christmas Dinner. This is always a popular day and if you think that you would like your child to have this meal, and they don’t normally stay to school dinners, please let the office know tomorrow. This will help the kitchen to prepare better for quantities. (You will still be able to order a meal on Wednesday.)
We plan to run a longer lunchtime so that children will be able to eat together either in the middle hall or on the Cadog Hall. We will rota the meals across a two hour time period to fit children in appropriately, so that it is a special occasion and the tables will be decorated, as usual. Children will also wear their party hats at this meal. Again, the aim is to make everything a special as possible.
On Thursday we are having a small Christmas Sale and more details will follow.
Eco Tip
This week’s Eco Tip is:
Replace Disposables: Wherever possible, replace disposable products with reusable ones i.e., razor, food storage, batteries, ink cartridges (buy refill ink), coffee filters etc.
Family Learning
I’m sorry about the delay in sending the ‘Counting to 20’ session out. This is my fault. It will be sent this week together with packs. Thank you for your patience!
Mobile Testing Centre in Stow Hill Car Park
Environmental Health have informed us that the mobile testing centre in Stow Hill Car Park will remain for one more day on Tuesday. It has been set up in response to a local community outbreak and is not a walk-in centre. The plan is for it to be removed on Wednesday.
The John Frost School
As you are aware, our local feeder school is The John Frost School and many of our Year 6 pupils go there once they have left us.
You might be interested to know that they have been featured in a lovely video which has been produced by Estyn, the schools’ inspectorate, to accompany its Annual Report. The link to the video is below and if you look carefully you will spot a few of our past pupils.
