Dear All,

Welcome back to everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely week.

Well done to Class RH for a great class assembly about their work on Friday before half term!

Congratulations to Amina Alam and Dylan Bartolan who won our half termly Early Bird draw today! They each win a£5.00 gift card from WH Smiths.

The SHARE Centre Breakfast Club started today and it was well supported. In addition to staff employed by the SHARE Centre to help with breakfasts, two members of school staff, Mrs C Jones and Miss Collins, will be working every morning from 8.15am and will escort pupils to school, ready for the start of the school day. If you are interested in obtaining a place in the Breakfast Club for your child, application forms are available from the office.

This afternoon, Mr Rob Williams (son of Mrs Williams who used to teach here), a Television Sports Producer, spoke to Year 6 pupils about his job. We are grateful that he was able to visit us again this year and also lucky that he has fitted us in before his work at the Open Golf in Troon, Scotland and later in Brazil for the Olympics and Paralympics.

Story Club, Netball Club and Homework Club are all cancelled this week because staff have meetings after school.

School and Nursery photos will be taken on Wednesday. In addition to the class photos, we will also take a separate Year 6 photo. All pupils will be sent a proof photo to order from but there is no obligation to buy a photo if you do not want to. Last year we changed to the more contemporary design of photo and these proved to be very popular so I am sure that this year’s photos will be just as lovely.

After-school Golf sessions provided by NewportLive, start on Wednesday for pupils in Y6.

Drumming with Reception pupils continues on Thursday and it is taken by Jason Robinson from Upbeat Music and Arts.

Classes 5/6W and 5/6P are continuing with their Cricket sessions on Thursday afternoon.

The Ukekele sessions for Year 5 pupils taken by Glyn Watkins from Upbeat Music and Arts continue on Friday. Pupils are preparing for the Duffryn Cluster Transition Concert which takes place on Wednesday 29h June at Duffryn High School.

On Friday morning Mrs Morton and Mrs Dickenson are taking our Y6 Digital Leaders to a special Education Achievement Service school ICT conference.

As a result of the work that we have been doing with ‘Value Added’ ICT training consultancy we have been selected to host an Apple Regional Training School event which will take place next Wednesday after school and our staff and Digital Leaders will be involved in this
