Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Pets’ Afternoon last week was lovely. Thank you to parents and staff who brought in animals. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the dwarf pony because there was a problem with its horsebox but we have been promised to see it later in the year.

Well done to the children who took part in the Chartist draw. We will hopefully be able to present the prizes this week when we receive them. There is a slight delay because Mr Reddicliffe has also very kindly agreed to provide a framed cop y of the jigsaw for each junior winner, as well as the jigsaw.

The catch up National Tests for children take place today and tomorrow. Children have tried hard and we have tried to help children not to be anxious about them. Thank you for your support with this.

Thank you very much for sending in filled boxes or items for the ‘Shoebox 4 Syria’ Appeal. They were collected on Friday and will be sent this week.

On Tuesday Year 5 pupils will begin to prepare for their Transition Concert at Duffryn High School which will be held on Wednesday 29th June. They will be learning to play the Ukelele. You will have more details about the concert shortly.

On Wednesday Class 4/5B are lucky enough to be taking part in a live Skype interview with Richard Jones, winner of the Welsh Senior Open held at the Celtic Manor last year. Pupils will also have the chance to have some tickets for this year’s event in June.

Drumming with Reception pupils continues on Thursday and it is taken by Jason Robinson from Upbeat Music and Arts.

Class 3/4G have their Class Assembly on Friday at 9.15am. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us.

On Friday afternoon we will be joined by the rugby player Alix Popham who will be talking about the RAAM (Race Across America), a 3,000 mile ultramarathon bicycle race taking place across the US from the west to east coast, which he will be taking part in soon. He is planning to support Velindre Hospital in Cardiff by doing this race.

Parent Focus Group

This will take place on Friday 20th May at 2.30pm. Joining us for this meeting is Mrs Hala Edwards, a language specialist who works in school part-time. She plans to set up an after-school parent and child Book Cafe in June and would like to chat to you and ask your opinion on a few things.

One of the requests made at a previous meeting was to have an information session about the British education system and I will also be asking for some suggestions on the timing for that.
