Dear Parent/Guardian,

The National Tests continued today with the Reading Test. Children absent from testing last week and today will be doing catch-up testing on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This afternoon, Y5 and Y6 girls visited John Frost Square to take part in a series of football related actvities organised by Newport Live because the Championship Cup is in Newport at the moment.

Our fundraising Film Treat is running tonight. Thank you for supporting this. Thank you also to staff helping with this and all after-school clubs.

The Gymnastics sessions with Sharon Mason from PlayLearnPlay for Y1/2 pupils continue tomorrow.

On Wednesday, drumming will take place for Reception and Classes 3/4G and 3/4M.

Singing group rehearsals for the Operasonic performance also continue after school.

On Friday we are starting a project in conjunction with Dr Catherine Purcell, from the University of South Wales, who has been awarded a grant from the Road Safety Trust to develop an innovative game-based road safety education app. She and the team working on developing this app will be visiting the school to start on the first of a series of activities with a group of Year 3 children which will run into next year. She will be accompanied on this visit on Friday by a camera crew who will be filming parts of this project for a BBC film to be screened next year.

Dates

Spare Summer Diary Dates sheets are available from the office and spare class topic letters are available from your child’s class teacher.

Uniform and Toys

A number of pupils have been wearing trainers or black jeans to school recently and these are not school uniform. Additionally I have asked girls not to wear Jojo Bows or large flower hair decorations to school because they are not school uniform and are better saved for best.

Fidget Spinners are very popular at the moment and they, like all toys, are not permitted in school.

Please help us by following these guidelines which help to make all of the children look smart and also stop accidents with toys. Thank you.

Bonus Ball

There is another rollover this week!

Yours sincerely,
