Dear Parent/Carer,

Apologies for contacting you on the weekend but I had promised to let you know our plans on the 17th September and I was unable to do so yesterday.

After having evaluated to current Covid 19 situation in Newport, together with the local arrangements, we intend to do the following:

  • School start times will remain as normal. Doors open at 8.50am promptly. (Gates will be opened at 8.45am.) Please ensure that your child arrives at school by 8.50am at the latest.
  • Nursery times will be extended and the revised times will be: 9.00-11.30am and 12.30-3.00pm.
Nursery parents have already been informed about these changes and we hope that these revised times will make things easier for you if you have older children in school or in another school.
  • Breakfast Club will reopen on Wednesday 22nd September from 8.15-8.45am. This date will

allow time for Chartwells’ Catering to make the appropriate arrangements ready for Wednesday.

On Monday, children will be given a Breakfast Club application form for you to complete and return to school on Tuesday if you require a place for your child. This will help us to know the estimated demand for places.

Children will be seated in their year group bubbles (Reception/Year 1/Year 2/Years 3 and 4/Years 5 and 6), We currently have a maximum of 85 places, so if there is demand above this, we will operate a first come, first served process with the application forms.

I believe that these steps will help with the continuing process of helping everything to start to return to normal in the safest way possible.

Additional Information
Thank you for your support with the new gate systems.

If you are driving to school to drop off or collect your child, please don’t drive up North Street, but, instead, drive through Baneswell and along Jones street. This means that we won’t have cars turning around in the road and blocking traffic, which will make things much safer for children and families. It will also help you to drive and queue safely.

We have food bags available in school. If you would like one, please speak to any adult at the gate, ring or email. The next delivery will be on Tuesday 28th September.

I hope that this information is helpful for you.

Have a lovely weekend.

Very kind regards,
HL Vaughan
